Tanmiah and MEWA Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Advance Innovation and Sustainable Development in the Agricultural Sector

Riyadh, 23 September 2026 — Tanmiah and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, the Minister of MEWA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation and support the development of the environmental and agricultural sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The partnership aims to promote innovation, launch strategic initiatives, and advance shared development objectives in vital related fields, contributing to sustainable growth and the Kingdom’s broader economic and social well-being.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will collaborate across four priority areas. The first focuses on enhancing agricultural applied research and studies in areas of priority to MEWA, with particular emphasis on sustainable sources of animal feed such as moringa plantations, to reduce dependence on imported soy and corn.

The second area supports research and development in poultry product innovation, exploring Saudi heritage and local ingredients to introduce distinctive products rooted in the Kingdom’s culinary identity. Tanmiah recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art Innovation Center in Riyadh, building on a growing portfolio of heritage-inspired products such as its award-winning Taste Secrets Fresh Marinated Shaqra Pepper Chicken Breast Fillet, made with locally cultivated Shaqra pepper in support of Saudi farmers.

The MoU also encompasses the joint design and development of Tanmiah’s training and capacity-building programs, alongside the delivery of specialized capacity-building and training programs for MEWA employees, conducted under Tanmiah’s supervision and direction. Together, these tracks are intended to strengthen national expertise and build a skilled workforce equipped to serve the long-term needs of the sector.

The MoU reflects Tanmiah’s commitment to advancing innovation, sustainability, and human capital development in the food and agriculture sectors, aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. It also underscores MEWA’s dedication to fostering strategic cooperation with the private sector to accelerate progress across the Kingdom’s environmental and agricultural agenda.
